LGBT-Phobia: The Radical Christian ViewIt’s no big surprise to anyone living on planet earth: Fundamental Christians have a huge problem with the LGBT community, who they often (ignorantly) lump together under the title of “homosexual”. In fact, if you Google right now, “Why homosexuality is bad” (not that all sexually oriented people are homosexual by definition), or do the same on YouTube, chances are you’ll find a religious apologist or some Fundamentalist preacher spewing Bible verse after Bible verse trying to justify his position. Expect to hear the typical “Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve” tripe over and over again, give or take a few words.
The way I see it, Fundamentalist Christians - the same Christians who put down womens rights, reject science, and are radically pro-life (etc) - are deliberately and wilfully ignorant about the LGBT, and they often expose that every time they open up their mouths about them.
That’s basically he reason why I’m writing th
Accusations Aginst ApostatesRecently, I wrote a poem entitled “I No Longer Believe”, which basically sums up all of the likely accusation one might make to an individual who reveals he/she is no longer a believer in the Christian faith. The poem is filled mostly with references to Bible verses, which Christians often apply to individuals who are defined as “Atheists”, or - more specifically - Those who have no positive beliefs and lack conviction in the existence of any spiritual or meta-physical person/concept/place, etc.
So what exactly are these accusations that Christians might make towards apostates (those who abandon an organized religion and no longer believe in it’s doctrines)? Well, before I get into the “what”. I think that it’s fair to address the “why” element first.
Most religious people believe that their scriptures are infallible; containing no errors, contradictions, and are demonstrably true. In addition, these people also believe that t
Religious Indoctrination of ChildrenIf there’s one thing that I would like to voice my disagreement with, it’s definitely assimilating/indoctrinating children into their parents religion without the child’s consent. Of course, most children probably don’t realize what’s going on when they are indoctrinated, while their parents might not see anything wrong with it. That’s sort of why I call this a disagreement, I guess; I do strongly feel that all children should have the right to pick whichever religion they want to be devout towards (If they want to be religious at all), and they should also be entitled to their own metaphysical beliefs, without having them forced on them by their parents.
Now some might ask the question: How do you know if a child is being forced? Or, what if the child wants to be religious, even following their parents religion.
Well, there are a few things to consider. First of all, it’s pretty obvious when a child is being forced to be religiously devout vs
Interview With KhalfrododDaedalus: Hey people, I'm here with my fantastic friend, khalfrodod! I'm going to be asking him a few questions and posting them on the interwebs for all of you to see!
Daedalus: Are you ready for this Khal?
Khal: Yeah, Daedalus, I'm ready.
Daedalus: Okay, so what would you say is your favorite kind of art to post on DeviantART?
Khal: Traditional art, obviously, I feel more 'in the zone' than if I were to do computer graphics.
Daedalus: What first got you interested in getting a DA account?
Khal: It must have been when I decided that I would make a slow start at a career in the art industry. Also complements from my family got to a frequency that made me think 'huh, am I really that good?' I still don't think I am, hence the practice.
Daedalus: Are you glad that you got an account?
Khal: Yes, I'm glad. it's been a welcome change.
Daedalus: How wo
Women and Geek, Pop CultureWomen and Geek, Pop Culture
Observing changes women present in the wonderful world of geek, pop culture.
By Christopher Harris
Hey Everyone, and welcome to the fourth installment of “Women and Geek, Pop Culture”. This series, like the name implies, will highlight some of the more authoritative roles women have in geek media. For example, the series will pin-point certain forms of media by briefly underlying how a particular show might diverge from tropes and reoccurring narratives we expect to see today. It’ll analyze fictional characters in TV, comics and video games, and emphasize the effects these characters have on future media and the representation of women.
This segment will be the final edition keeping with the theme of “Change”. So far, I’ve simply brought up some of my favorite characters as well as more, influential characters, that I see in various types of media. They each represent my
Yu-Gi-Oh Dawn of the Pharaoh Chapter 1Yu-Gi-Oh
Dawn of the Pharaoh
There was once a legendary battle so powerful, so fierce, that some even say that it was fiction. Yugi Muto, who was well known for being a powerful and difficult duelist to face against. That such battle was against Marik Ishtars evil half. It was a long and brutal battle of the ages, but Yugi eventually won the battle with his egyptian god cards, Obelisk the Tormenter, and Slifer the Sky Dragon.
As years went by, Yugi Muto's other half named Atem, wanted Yugi to bring him to some egyptian ruins. He wanted him to bring him to these ruins, because he believes he has finished what he should have years ago. When they arrived, they both fought against each other. But to Atem's surprise, Yugi was victorious. As Atem crept further into the ruins, he disappeared and never to be heard from again.
Years later, Yugi is now raising a family with his wife, Tea Muto. Yugi is also raising his son which he named his son Yami after his old friend, Atem. But as a
Conservative Party UK Conference 2014Hello all
I just thought I would post this journal I have been watching the Conservative Party Conference 2014 and I have to say Im listening to the Foreign Secretary William Hague speech as a supporter of the United Kingdom Independence Party.
I have to say some of what William Hague is saying is absolutely spot on correct however for the fair majority of it I am sorry but I just can't vote Conservatives they promise a European Union Referendum in 2009 "cast iron guarantee" that's what the leader of the Conservative Party David Cameron said back then and I am still waiting on that referendum to this day.
The Conservatives have now come out and say they are going to give the British public referendum if they go and vote Conservatives in the next coming general election in the United Kingdom. I am strongly oppose the Union for many upon many reasons to list just two main ones I strongly against it.
For example did you know 75% of British laws are not made in Westminster they are made in
The Science of Lucid Dreaming You were having fun at a pool party. Everybody there is familiar. They are your friends. But something seems off. You could not exactly pinpoint it. You noticed a streaming cup of coffee splashed on your arm but you neither smelt the coffee nor felt the pain. Then you realized, you are dreaming. Just to be sure, you did more reality test and it only made you believe more that you are dreaming.
When a person sleeps, he enters into four stages of sleep cycle. The first stage is the light sleep where a person drifts in and out of sleep. The second stage is where the heart and breathing begins to slow down. The third stage and fourth stage is known as the deep sleep where the brain begins producing delta waves. Once a person enters the deep sleep stage, there is no muscle or eye movement. Then the person will go back from stage four to stage one. After stage one, the person will begin the Rapid Eye Movement or REM. It i

Poetic PsychosisIn thirty seconds, the next shell would fall. Every night was the same, but every night Lorenzo experienced it as if it were the first time. His throat felt swollen; breathing was hard. He glanced around at the others; young men like him who had been shipped out in the name of honour and freedom. There was no honour in this, no freedom. Only death behind your eyelids, and a fear so gutting, that it carved out your innards and left you a hollow husk. Lorenzo tried to breathe, tried to assure himself that he was still whole, still made of flesh. They had lied when they told him he was ready.
Matteo ran towards him, arms out, rifle swinging uselessly at his side. He shouted for him to run, but Lorenzo remained motionless, unable to move as his friend’s warning was lost in the constant blare of gunfire. None of them were ready.
“The cycle is repeating. It is not safe.” The voice was soft and weak, yet it carried over the gunfire and battle cries without impediment.
